Londo Lodge

Londo Lodge

Londo Lodge is perched along a cliff edge overlooking the calm waters of Pemba bay. Seven rustic villas blend into the background of an unspoilt wilderness area framed by gargantuan baobab trees. Regal sweeping steps lead you to the powdery white beach below, with the warm Indian Ocean beckoning for a leisurely swim, or a snorkel over the coral reef steps away from the shore.

The lodge has been designed to blend in and reflect the influence of the local cultural mix of African and Middle Eastern styles. Each airy octagonal villa has been built using local materials, with traditional thatched roofing, high ceilings and expansive louver doors opening onto panoramic vistas of the majestic Bay below. Each features a king-size bed, air conditioning, a luxurious bathroom with enclosed but outdoor shower, and a romantic private teak deck with sunset views.

The restaurant at Londo has already been highly acclaimed for its superbly imaginative and diverse cuisine, it is worth a visit just for that, and there are some fabulous wines to try as well. Having indulged in some of the best cuisine in the north of Mozambique lulled by a gentle sea breeze, work it off in the cliff edge swimming pool, on a dive, snorkeling the beautiful reefs, or have a soothing massage and wander through the tranquil baobabs and frangipani-scented gardens.
Londo Lodge offers spectacular diving opportunities and other exhilarating water sports, such as water skiing, deep sea and fly fishing, and dolphin and whale watching (in season). With the virgin bush right on the doorstep, you can take an environmental bush walk and see some of the amazing bird life and small mammals which abound on that side of the peninsula. Browse the collection of books in the library, select a rare tipple from the malt whisky collection, or enjoy a cocktail whilst witnessing the perfect sun set at the end of the day. Alternatively, explore the surrounding river mangroves on a traditional dhow, round off the day with a romantic sunset cruise back, followed by a moonlit supper on board.

Transfers: Access from Pemba is by speedboat - a 15 minute ride across the bay and you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the resident dolphins and the whales (in season) along the way.

Diving at Londo

Diving at Londo Lodge

Londo boasts stunning dive locations. Situated in Pemba bay, there is spectacular diving at all levels, from introductory dives for those with no experience to wall and drift diving for more advanced divers. PADI courses are also available. Apart from sensational corals and plentiful tropical fish, the Pemba area is home to several species of turtle, dolphins, and seasonally migrating humpback whales. Snorkelling sites abound both off the main beaches and across the bay at Ponto Saide Ali. Corals often lie in shallow water and visibility can be outstanding, offering almost a dive experience from the surface. Water temperatures are always comfortable.
