Meluco community project
Although this dusty small town in the far west of the Quirimbas National Park has little to offer in itself, it is the ideal place to have guided walks in the inselbergs. A steep scramble takes you to the summit of one of these looming giants with an indescribable view of dozens of rocky monoliths fading into the blue distance. A Quirimbas National Park/Cabo Delgado Biodiversity and Tourism initiative, your guides are newly trained, local youths. They can be contacted through Anne Maria, owner of a very basic guesthouse in Meluco, recently improved with Quirimbas National Park funding.
