Sailing

Pemba's unmatched bay – one of the three largest in the world – is the perfect setting for sailing and motor boating. Choose between a peaceful traditional dhow cruise, a visit by motor boat to the beautiful mangrove forests or a search for the perfect snorkelling spot. If you prefer to go further a field, luxury yachts are available to sail along the coast or out to the Quirimba Archipelago, incorporated in the Quirimbas National Park.

Dhow safaris

The dhow is synonymous with coastal East Africa. It is a traditional triangular-sailed Arab boat that has been sailing in the area for millennia, carrying slaves, travellers, trade goods and fishermen all over the Indian Ocean. Both the design and the sailing methods have remained mostly unchanged over the centuries, and dhows continue to work in large numbers throughout East Africa.
