Villa Sands is a stylish and elegant boutique hotel that opened in April 2011. It has been carefully renovated from three separate 16th Century warehouses to maintain the cool and classic architectural features of the original buildings.
Offering delightful accommodation on the seafront, there are 8 double en-suite rooms around the downstairs atrium, each one with a king-size bed, ceiling fan, air-conditioning, and a television. There are a further 3 rooms upstairs on the rooftop terrace, each one en-suite and there is a pool upstairs too. The upstairs rooms are more expensive and they house exquisite pieces of furniture from the 17th and 18th Centuries. Another swimming pool is located on the seafront terrace close to the bar and restaurant, with comfortable sun loungers for relaxing on after a busy day exploring. Unwind on the terrace with a long drink marvelling at the spectacular Ilha sunsets before dining in the restaurant on the freshest succulent grilled prawns.
Guided tours of the famous historical island can be arranged, and Villa Sands has bicycles available to clients on a complimentary basis should you wish to explore the hidden secrets of the island yourself. Alternatively, take a boat trip on Edna, their motorised dhow; options include a sailing / snorkelling trip, a picnic on idyllic Goa Island, or a sunset cruise bird-watching in the mangroves. There are also conference facilities for up to 24 delegates should you be there on business.
Rates from: $100 per room per night including continental breakfast.
Villa Sands is located on Rua dos Trabalhadores on the beachfront behind BIM bank and 200m from the central Market.
We can arrange comfortable road transfers from Nampula or Pemba for you and there is secure parking available for guests arriving with their own vehicle.
Because of the size of the island, once you are on Ilha you do not need a car to get around.
