A generally unspoilt beautiful natural environment is one Mozambique’s best features, and many of Kaskazini’s favourite lodges choose to do their best to keep it that way.

On the little-known but stunning Mozambican shores of Lake Niassa (Lake Nyasa/Malawi), both Nkwichi Lodge and Mbuna Bay were founded on the principles of minimal environmental disturbance and maximum returns to the local community. Feel-good places that do good too.
Beautiful Nuarro Lodge near Nacala contributes a percentage of their takings to local community projects, and makes a point of sourcing as much as possible locally, which is also a non-negotiable principle at Guludo Beach Lodge in the far north of the Quirimbas National Park.  Guludo’s beach-friendly eco-design is complemented by the community projects of the associated Nema Foudation.

Last but not least, cosy Ulala Lodge south of Pemba is run on renewable energy and low impact building structures.
